So many peopel to respond to, so little time for messy quoting...
Sqrl... did you like, not finish reading my post? I clearly said I want the puzzles to require thinking instead of attempting it until something eventually works. Ealrier Zeldas, LttP most especially, made you think a lot more about what you were doing, Far too often in the more recent Zelda's I've found that if I just keep doing random shit something will eventually work. I don't like that, and I think players should be expressely punished for it (by having to walk out of the room and walk back in, at least, but more is preferable).
ceres... it's OBVIOUS I'm getting smarter. The Legend of Zelda is STILL harder to complete than OoT, and I know every last secret in LoZ (okay, first quest only...). OoT is more time consuming and much less entertaining, but it's not more difficult by any means. I can beat it without ever coming close to dying, or with very few deaths on a run w/o grabbing any heart containers, but LoZ kicks my ass a few times everytime I play even when I max out hearts ASAP (I never go into the first palace with less than 5 hearts, let alone the rest of the game). And yes, this is with me knowing every secret. I know where to bomb or use fire (and where not to) and where everything I can possibly wnt is located. Still, the game actually manages to score kills on me. God forbid I talk about the second quest...
yacjuman... the original Zelda is still thebest in the series, so of course that's the one I speak of. Of course, LttP is still harder than any of the 3D Zeldas by a lot, despite being noticably easier than the original.
Sporticus... it's funny that you should say that, as TP is easily the most time consuming of the games barring, perhaps, WW and its shitty sailing. That is, in fact, what makes the game a waste of time in my opinion. They made the game long without giving it much context or difficulty. It's like masturbation when you're 50: either you've got it down to a god damned science, or you don't even bother anymore. No doubt, this is why GameSpot gave it a controvesial 8.8.
Sure, some people are taking 30-45 mintes to figure out puzzles in TP. That indicates they made them hard, but do they make you think? For most of them the answer is "not really". Games shouldn't be about how much of their time they take away from you (which is what Zelda is in its WW and TP forms) but how much entertainment it can provide you. Making you do things jsut to consume time does not make a game good. TP, like WW, does a lot of things just to consume your time rather than actually entertain you.
You do not have the right to never be offended.
