The video looks fake but it is funny. I just think that if someone did break their TV, they wouldn't post it on the net. Also, he didn't look very surprised or upset about it. For those reasons, it doesn't seem very real to me.
I can see though how someone could accidentally let go out of the remote while playing. I think it did once slip from my hand or almost slip while playing but I did have the strap on tight. I always wear it if I'm playing Wii Sports or any game where you might move the controller quickly. I think it's more comfortable to wear the strap anyway since otherwise, it's just keeps hitting you in the arm becoming slightly annoying.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
