Main console last generation was easily PS2, I think I got my cube in late 2005 iirc and even then mostly because of Prime 1 & 2.
Both consoles have somewhat interesting stories, since they were both purchased used:
My PS2 I got from a gamestop iirc, and it had problems almost right away so I went to walmart and got another PS2 and returned the broken gamestop one in the new one's packaging =P
The cube I got from an ebay auction and for like $200+$38 shipping it came with:
- Pikmin 1
- Pikmin 2
- Metroid Prime 1
- Metroid Prime 2
- Splinter Cell
- Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
- Ghost Recon
- Mario Sunshine
- Super Smash Brothers Melee
- Sonic Mega Collection
- And 3 crap games: Minority Report, Some BMX game, and Pacman Fever.
- Nintendo Controller
- 3rd Part Turbo Controller
- Memory Card
Personally I thought that was a damn good bargain. I actually found the auction when I was thinking "Ok I will just take a look at whats available.." and I found it sitting at like $80, I put a max bid of $300 on it at the 10 second left mark and won. Definitely a huge impulse buy (I hate j00 ebay!) but I have never regretted it.
