And what benefit have we seen from this? Heavenly Sword is a 6-7 hour game. That's just plain ridiculous. Twilight Princess is a 40 hour game, and it fits on a 1.5GB Gamecube Minidisc. There is NO BENEFIT to this extra storage space. You want to tell me why 50GBs of space haven't resulted in a game even half the length of 1.5GBs of space? Blu-ray has no benefit to the gaming industry as far as we have seen. |
Sure there is... in fantasy magic land you could get much bigger longer games where you can spend years and years on a game without being rushed.
That can't happen now but they can use that space to do other things once the PS3 has been out for a while. Like say if they release an update to unlock even bigger layered bluray discs they may be able to release "Combo" games together in the "Greatest hits" section. Push one game that was popular with a different genre game to try and get your base to diversify more. Heck they might be able to do this without unlocking more blu-ray space.
I mean you could say people would complain... but did anyone complain about the NES combo games? Sure they probably won't do this. However Sony could and i think it'd work out pretty well.
