Funny enough, I'm really not a violent person per se. Don't get me wrong, I've probably beat more people up than some people have ever even imagined. But 9 times out 10 I always did it in defense of someone else. Like on of the reasons I had my own personal police officer in high school was because this guy John threw a girl head first into a locker, and beat her up.
So, being who I am, I think hitting a woman is one of the most cowardly acts a person can commit. So I went after him, which because he was a star football player led to me taking on the rest of the football team, and which of course led to a lot of seriously injured football players, which in turn led to me receiving a police escort because the school just got tired of my superhero mentality that I had to protect the innocent every time they were wronged someone.
I still believe to this day that if more people would take up for the disadvantaged and the weak, the world we live in would be a lot better.
I suppose the best way to put it was that I was the bully's bully. Believe it or not, the school actually encouraged me not to show up everyday. And when my senior year was over, they gave me my hour-credits to graduate because they really didn't want me to have to come back for another year.
And while I don't want my kids to get in as much trouble as I did, I would never be upset with them for sticking up for the disadvantaged. The small kid, a girl, a handicapped child... if they defend them and get into fights protecting the weak and innocent, I would be proud of them for putting others above themselves.
Anyway, crazy memories, but I'm glad to have grown up and put it all behind me, and remained unscathed.
