Home is about what I expected it to be at this point.  It's not great, but I will spend some time in it.  Some of the posters on this thread seem to view it as a game that is designed to entertain you.  Home seems to be a place that is designed for you to meet people and to make your own entertainment.  The success on this will rise and fall on the game spaces.  Once we see how the developers plan to implement them then we will know if there is any value in Home.

A couple of my thoughts based upon the op:

  • I did not notice any framerate issues in any of the spaces.  Can you detail your actions in your apartment so I can recreate on my system?
  • The downloading system is perfect in my opionion.  The initial Home download is 77 megs and most spaces are about 30 megs.  I like the fact that Sony allows you to choose what you want to download.  There are some spaces that I will never go to, so why would I download them.  Also, all spaces can be queued and downloaded in the background which is a plus.  I have a dsl connection and I was happy with the speed of the downloads.
  • The avatars do look like douches.  I would say the same thing about the 360 avatars.  The Wii nailed the avatar creation system.
  • You should be able to play pool, the arcade games, bowl, etc without waiting.
  • Graphically speaking, I think Home looks great.
  • Moving between the sections if very easy.  You can walk to any of the areas via the plaza or you can warp directly there via the menu.  Each section takes about 10 seconds to load which is not a problem in my opinion.

The first thing you should do in Home is start the download of the Mall, Bowling Alley, Theater, and Plaza.  While they download, you should create your avatar.  Your first download should be completed by the time you have an acceptible version of you.  Now you can go and explore.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.
