PS3 will be lucky to survive for 7 years let alone 10 years. PS3 slow console sales and getting killed by the Wii60 is destroying the moral of Sony fans worldwide.
Sony has invested a lot of money into Blu-Ray on the PS3 and it has backfired so far. PS3 is still making an average loss of around $100 per PS3 sold. PS3 consoles were initially sold for a much higher per console sold in the first year of the PS3.
DVDs are continuing to heavily outsell Blu-Rays.
5 years on from now Blu-Ray will be superseded with better technology and the online distribution is a much cheaper alternative than an expensive disc storage device.

First, Blu-ray didn't backfire on Sony, the drive costs around $50-70 now while a DVD drive costs around $5, so that means, DVD can't go down further, and it doesn't need it, but Blu-ray, like any other technology - that includes DVD too - can go down to $10-20 price range. The numbers I have are taken from iSuppli.

As for your bold claim about how Sony loses $100 now, can you provide a link? Because PS3 already costs less than $400 from what I know, but the reason I think it doesn't make money to Sony is because the whole packaging, shipment, retailer's money...etc. I am not sure about this one though.
