"We are the engine of the gaming industry" sounds arrogant and I don't think is true. They certainly are expanding the market and driving innovation. I would say they are an engine and a big one, but there are lots of others. For example the new graphics engine for id's new game rage allows graphics designers much freer control allowing them to make textures at any resolution they please and then place them like crazy over a map, all at no performance hit which was previously not possible. Such an inovation which will eventually spread in time to all games and will drive more detailed levels.
But anyway, I don't blame them because this quote seems to be your paraphrasing "Markt analyst see us as deciding driving power for the fast development in the market"? Firstly it is not we, it is market analysts. According to this sentence they are not claiming anything but stating others beliefs. Secondly it is true and analytical without the superior feel of the thread title. There may be other engines like id, but they are not driving expansion of the market. There is a big difference between the engine of the game industry and the deciding driving power for the fast development in the market, which is totally true.
