Naznatips: So, then, say the Wii version controls just infinitely better than the 360 version. The gameplay on the Wii version is just so much better it's unbelievable. Should the 360 have points removed, even if it plays well for a 360 game, because the Wii game plays better? Even though it's not possible for the 360 to have the same gameplay as the Wii because of the lack of a Wiimote? My answer: If I was the reviewer and the gameplay would be better with the Wii mote I would give it ofcourse more points. That is normal I think. When I played SSX tricky on PS2 it was more easy to make a lot of points than the Xbox version. With only L1 an R1 on the Xbox controller it was harder to make different tricks. So for me the gameplay was better on PS2.

But see that's 2 systems of rivaling levels of technology and similar control schemes. I'll even concede that with multiplatform games it's reasonable, but with games unique to the system it's not. For a better example, lets go back to the PSone era, when there was a similar difference in system capabilities. There was never a single PSone game that could match even a mediocre Nintendo 64 game's graphics. When you get to the high end Nintendo 64 graphics the difference was enormous. Does that mean that, due to the PSone's hardware limitations, every one of it's unique and enjoyable games should have been given bad reviews? Again, I take you to my Bioshock vs Metroid Prime 3 example. You say Metroid Prime 3 should be compared to Bioshock in graphics. I say if you compare it in graphics then you should compare it in control schemes as well. So, say Metroid Prime 3's control scheme turns out to be the truly perfect control scheme for console shooters. Does that mean every shooter on the PS3 and 360 from now on should get horrible gameplay scores because they are incapable of matching Metroid Prime 3's perfect control scheme? It's no different comparing this than comparing graphics. You can't review a game based on a system capability that was never there in the first place. If you compare games they should be compared to other similar games on systems of similar hardware. Truthfully games shouldn't be compared at all, but rated on their own individual merits. I also mentioned the issue of even reviewing graphics at all. I think that's a huge mistake in the first place. Graphics should not have a part in a review. Style and polish should. Odin Sphere is a gorgeous game, but it doesn't use any advanced graphical effects, just great art work. Metroid Prime 3 matches the style of the Metroid series perfectly, and it's graphics are pleasing in that respect. They graphics are polished, clean, stylistic, and match the art work. That's really all that should matter. The visuals of a game should add to the experience, and as long as they do the best they can and are perfectly appropriate for the game that should be all that matters as far as visuals in a review.
