3rd party or not the result is current 49% marketshare by one console. Doesn't matter as long as games are there and the value is percieved at $250 every time.

For now I'll say that Nintendo's wording is off just a little, community fun not family fun alone. Something that made the arcades such a hit was the ability to play with tuns of people at any given point.

Consoles like the NES ripped the arcades a new one because you could play with another person and you could play multiple games on one machine and finally you could play it at home.

By moving consoles in the direction of online play, you'd think that to be the win formula... but for some reason that isn't working along with the community formula.

Some say it's the complexity of the interface, others say price and a few others say brand name.

I believe online play doesn't work as well because social offline is not social online. V_V
