Gamespot gave it a 7.4... i don't think a 7.4 game sucks... and about the multiplatform thing... you claim that multi-platform titles will sell definately better on the other consoles... i think there are some multi-platform games who sold better on Wii than PS3. And still... who talked about sales? See how it always boils down to opinions??? That should mean something. Opinions won't give you sales... period. The word hardcore is subjective on it's own! But quality isn't... In my book there are no numbers.. there's Pass and Fail. Pass are games that I like and give a long lasting appeal. Fail are games that bore me after 2 hours. And this system works on the consoles too.. if A console's games don't appeal to me, it fails in my book... Unfortunately for Wii and 360 fanboys.. this is one gamer that thinks that the PS3's library is appealing to him... therefore it PASSES, and the other two FAIL. And trust me, I'm not the only one... 600K europeans just proved it last weekend. And further sales will strengthen this fact.. Just watch. Sales were brought in to show why the Wii will fade in 2 years.. don't you know? Again, just watch. Oh and 'Others' for sure. I think what I'm about to say is going to kill the competition.. 111 million PS2 users are looking to buy a PS3 after a fun time with the PS2. They know Sony can deliver sequels or equals to these games they've been playing. Let's say 20 million defected because of the price and because of that entire SONY STABBING US IN THE BACK BS (20 million is about half the amount of PS2 players in the US), that still leaves 91 million ps2 players around the world. Lets take half of Japan's too... that leaves you with 71 million. I'll leave Europe in the side cause they love the brand and no way they'll ever defect from it... I'm not talking about people who never bought a console, I'm talking about those who've had or still have a PS2. So 71 million is the number... now sum up the GC's and Xbox's sold... around 47 million. Simple math, is 71 > 47? I think it is. And that is in the worst possible scenario ever. It doesn't matter how fast it gets there or how fast the Wii's or 360s get there. All those GC users are buying the Wii because Nintendo dropped it. Same for the 360. When Sony officially writes off the PS2, you can expect 30 million sales in 3-4 months of the PS3. Sounds far-fetched?? Think it over.. and again.. and again... until it finally sounds right. It's all about past experience, period. With that and the PS3's strong advantages on the competitors besides games, I can even expect that in 10 years, the PS3 install base will top the PS2s... love it or hate it, the past decrees.
no, casual gamers don't have that kind of name brand loyalty. First of all there is not 120 million individual PS2 owners, many of those are broken PS2s and people that bought multiple systems for various reasons, i personally know a couple that bought the thin one when they had a perfect working normal one. Second once the huge group of casual gamers (and many hardcore ones too) see the price of the ps3 they will immediately go elsewhere. Casual gamers are loyal to their money. Third, with the current sales trends right now Nintendo and/or Microsoft will get so much momentum that it doesn't even matter. Keep on believing that all the PS2 owners will come back, but most of the PS2 owners didn't buy it until it was 200$ or less. Many didn't even buy it until it was 130$. You think those people are honestly gonna buy a PS3? The same people that are eating up Guitar Hero, Eyetoy, and Singstar you think those people are honestly gonna buy a PS3?
