The touchpad thing looks interesting but I can't get over the shitty placement above the controller.

And I get what they're saying how you'll never have to use it in game so it's not a huge deal that you have to move your hands up, but it still just doesn't look comfortable to use.  The fact they even say not made for human hands just reinforces that.
