Demand is always relative to price, and market saturation happens when a console doesn't change its price for long. It just happens that market saturation seems to happen faster for the PS3 at a given price point, which is why Sony had to drop prices faster than Microsoft did. That is not a good sign no matter how much you spin it.
I'm pretty sure the PS3 would be selling significantly better if it were cheaper, but realistically it can't be cheaper right now so it doesn't matter. As for the future, PS3's problem is that its appeal will get reduced as it's not going to suddenly gain an edge in gamers' eyes... No new announced exclusives, etc.
