At this point, barring Sony doing something drastic, the margin will be closed, and the X360 will win the year. There are still ~6 weeks left to close under 800,000 units.
From this point on, the gap will only widen. I expect the X360 to average no less than +200,000 units on Sony for the rest of the year. For 6 weeks, that'd give it 1,200,000 which would be more than enough to overcome the Playstation 3's lead that it gained throughout most of the year.
Unless Sony can introduce a $299.99 price point for the PS3 next year, it won't win 2009 over the X360.
