MS has pretty much bred the RROD out of newer models of the Xbox360.

On top of which, sometimes it was the fault of the user, anyway. Way to stick your Xbox360 on a crowded shelf with no ventilation, geniuses. Sometimes, people need to stand in front of a mirror when they outstretch their arm pointing at whom to blame.

I have a brand new Xbox360, and it sits on a wire shelf, on it's side, with all ventilation ports clear for the cooling. I play the system for a couple hours at a time and have yet to touch it and find it to be unusually warm. The N64 rests below it. I know the RROD is pretty much "ancient history," but I'm still taking precautions where my X360 is concerned. I take care of all my consoles. They all have necessary breathing room.

So do I... I have my original Atari 7800, NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii and of all those systems the only one i ever had a problem with was my GC, but that was because my sisters friends were over one day playing Melee and must've accidentaly opened the lid or hit the lense because it wouldn't read any of my discs, including Eternal Darkness which was brand new at the time.  Sent it in to Nintendo and got it back less that 2 weeks later free of charge (cuz it happened less than a year after launch).

Now as for the 360, same thing like you said, i keep it in a well vented place, i dont play on it for more than 2-3 hours straight, i dust it usually once a month so it doesn't build up, and yet, out of the blue, without any warning or any kind of issues prior, i get the RROD.  So this can't be just some isolated incidents blown out of proportion.  Oh by the way, mine wasn't an original model... i purchased it right before X-Mas last year, it's manufacture date is 10/25/2007 and it's an Elite with the Falcon board.  So for this kinda thing to keep happening on a regular basis there's no way it could be just from user abuse alone, because my friend's 360 takes a way bigger beating than mine ever did and his still hasn't RROD'd (he has an Elite with the Zephyr board purchased in summer of '06), and yet my cousins is the exact same model and his got the RROD back in April.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
