Well, reviewers always have their yearly preference. It's like a fad. This year the fad is that linearity is outdated.
I don't understand that. Linearity makes for great cinematic story moments for example.
Anyway, I'm not complaining, since I feel this gen could go equal to the amazing SNES-PS1 times if progress is being made at the current pace. There are much more JRPGs now and in the near future that are awesome. Sticking to my own systems:
