By polished I mean all aspects of the game perform in harmony: graphics, music composition, storyline, battle system, etc.

Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, now The Last Remnant (havent played Tales)

About 5 hours into The Last Remnant, I feel like im playing a modified FFXII.  Maybe more time will change my mind but Im starting to get that Infinite Undiscovery vibe about this game...which isn't good.

Let's see:

  • Blue Dragon - Wasn't perfect, but it's the definition of polished. Awesome Uematsu musical score. Battle system was tight & innovative. Story was mediocre, but how many Playstation 2 RPGs were too?
  • Lost Odyssey - Unreal Engine 3 based. Most UE3 games not made by Epic have had one trouble or another in the graphical department. Despite the flaws that UE3 brings, the game is a very solid experience, and most X360 owners enjoyed the game. And Uematsu's score is (again) awesome. His theme for the Thousand Years' Dreams was excellent.
  • The Last Remnant - Haven't played it, but it is UE3 based. It was also Squares first UE3 game.
  • Infinite Undiscovery - Like Eternal Sonata, it was the basis for another game. Wait till Star Ocean 4 comes out to see how polished a IU-esque game can be :)

Also, your profile does not say that you've played Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia or Eternal Sonata - all quite polished. Tales of Vesperia is the best JRPG on the X360, IMO, and possibly one of the best for any system.

Eternal Sonata looked awesome though.

I really think SE just lost it. FFXII was just horrible and now The Last Remnant doesn't look to really have an identity.

FF XII was maybe horrible as a Final Fantasy game, but as a ''game'', I think it's an excellent one! I've spent almost over 200 hours in that game, it was THAT good in my book.

I just don't understand the hate for FF XII. The change in the battle system was much needed.

The hate comes from JRPG gamers like me who are very old school and do not want our pre-FFXI style turn based battle system touched.

This is why I found Lost Odyssey refreshing. I absolutely hated FFXII battle system, I also thought the story was a snooze fest. Oh my, how SE has fallen.

I just hope TLR does not use a FFXII-esque battle system, although that does not seem to be the case. SaGa Team couldn't possibly do that to me... COULD THEY?

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
