Nintendo mailed me a free 72-pin connector for my NES after it died after 20 years. They said they weren't sure if they even had the part anymore, but they looked it up and still had some left. They said I could mail in my NES and they'd repair it, or they could mail me the part and recommend the nearest repair center. I said I could do it myself, and they said that was fine but it would void my warranty on the new part. I put it in and had a brand new NES for free. In fact, Nintendo even thanked me for being a loyal customer for this long and said they really appreciate it.
