MS only needed to capture America, having the biggest country/gaming country will have a ripple effect that will entice third-parties to make games and multi-platform their games to their console. The world might not like MS much but business is business and they will side with MS to get money.
Once they have enticed third-parties with their dominance in America and paid for some games to be exclusive or multi-platform it was over for PS3. PS3 won't have bottom pit sales, it will be close to xbox or even surpass it by a little but MS did its' damage to Sony. It will be Xbox vs PS from now on which is bad since none of them will differentiate from each other so none will break away with incredible sells like the Wii.
The Wii is so different than both of them, why buy a more expensive console if you can buy the same console for less (PS3 and Xbox offer the same experiences and mostly the same games). In the end MS has a way bigger company and can survive with many price cuts and throwing money at games, that is how monopolies roll.
