I bought my PS3 mainly for the Blu-ray. I am a gamer at heart so I thought it was a no brainer to go ahead and pay a little more for the PS3. I don't want to get off topic much, but I will give you 3.
1) 10 or more of my real life friends have live as opposed to 1 on PSN. And the one on PSN is always on live as well. (the most important)
2) While it isn't as bad as it was when I first got my PS3, PSN disconnects me much more often while playing than live. As for lag, both can be bad at times but most of that probably is my own connection.
3) Ease of use, I can talk to anyone or receive msgs on live at anytime no matter if they are in a different game or not. And everyone has a mic. (everyone having a mic is sometimes a bad thing)
These of course are from my expereince and I am sure you may have a different one. I don't use PSN as often but things are improving maybe with Home things will get a lot better. Since my xbox RROD I haven't had a chance to try the Xbox experience yet so this could also add another notch in favor of live. I should be getting it back this week or early next. Fingers crossed.

Exactly what I got out of it.
I can completely cross off number 1 and number 2 (lol number 2) only happened to me after i got cod4 and never happened with resistance. Warhawk had the numbers resetting problem but I dont remember getting kicked. and i find psn easy to use... and I hate mics with kids (and yes i meant mics with kids not kids with mics)
