And yet have you SEEN the onscreen activitiy in Gears of War 2? Literally thousands of independently acting creatures of varying sizes and complexities.

No I haven't seen it, do you have a link to a video?

I don't think they are all independent though, I can imagine something like the early PS3 exclusive Heavenly Sword with thousands of warriors on screen together with huge vehicles.
