It is odd though that an established series highly anticipated (MGS4) couldnt outsell a new IP (gears 1) with a LARGER install base. |
Gears has everything a casual gamer wants - easy controls, extreme gore, plug and play MP, while MGS4 has everything but what the casual gamer wants - 9 hours of story, complex controls, complicated MP. It is basically casual vs hardcore and we know which kind of games sell more. Then there's also the extremely agressive and expensive publicity Microsoft is known for.
Anyway, my prediction for Gears 2 2nd week is between 500 - 600k.
