Don't blame SD gaming because moronic programmers don't care about making text legible. That's not the fault of 480p at all.
HD has nothing to do with the processing power (poly count, etc.) of the new systems vs. Wii. They look better because more power is behind them -- the lines of resolution is just a bonus.
Any PC gamer has had access to better resolution for years -- it's not a big deal at all. The details/build of the game/framerate are. It's just easier for people to understand WHOA HD now, and it's marketed so hard that people want to believe it's some kind of amazing revolution.
OP doesn't know what he's talking about anyway, since CRT is still way better picture technology than LCD. AND CRT MONITORS ARE HD. I have a 21" CRT comp monitor in the basement that eats fixed-pixel monitors for breakfast.
Look on craigslist for HD CRTs -- they only go up to 36" 4x3 or 34" 16:9 but seriously giangantic TVs are just silly -- everything but 1080p looks like yuck, and I can't believe how many people think they need a TV that takes up their whole wall, and SD stuff still looks awesome unlike new techs.
