Don´t know what you are talking about Darc Requiem, I only died once in a boss battle because I was careless (mom bomb) and never grinded except in the final dungeon. I hadn´t played FFIV for a decade so I didn´t remembered how the bosses acted. And I did all the available sidequests without grinding at all as well. If somebody is a RPG noob then yes, he should play the snes version (because the gba port sucks), otherwise the DS version is the one to go. It offers real challenge and needs real strategy, quick reflexes, the ability not to lose track of your party commands during hard battles. Boss battles are meant to damage you a lot anyway.
