The problem is that only a small amount of consumers (below 10%) are multiplatform owners. By the time the sony can drop the price enough both the wii and the 360 will have swallowed a good chunk of consumers. While the 360 does it at a slow pace, the wii is eating what, 1 million sales/month?.
Console generations last a few years so its a race against time.
