To be fair, WSJ, NYT, WP, and WT are about the only (mostly) respectable papers left in the country... 2 liberal, 2 conservative, when they say an "anonymous source" I am inclined to believe those papers because they are putting their integrity on the line. So if NYT says "anonymous" I believe, if NYP says it then I don't.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
