That first level was not great in terms of gameplay, but I will give you it did look good, though the death stuff was not great (I would know)
The caverns do look impressive as does the water, but I still don't think it can match Uncharted. No moment in Gears 2 (upto start of act 4) has compared to that moment in Uncharted when you are behind the waterfall above the U-boat in chapter 3 (I think) for me.
Also, while the first levels had colour, it has been getting a bit grey, and while there was some respite for snow, it is back to grey. Playing Uncharted with the nex-gen filter turned on makes them look the same
In terms of detail I can't comment because I am playing on an SDTV, and not sitting 1 inch away, but the game does look fantastic, even if it not the best looking game ever |
You really need the hdtv imo to appreciate either consoles.

I agree, but it is not my choice whether or not I get one. Anyway, I have played Uncharted in HD and it is absolutely incredible

So your comparing Uncharted in HD to Gears 2 sdtv. Thats hardly fair. Me and my mate put Gears 2 on SDtv first ( just the intro) and then played through in HD. It's almost like looking at 2 different games.

Given that I barely played any of uncharted in HD, that is not what I am comparing. I have played Uncharted and Gears and few weeks ago and GeoW 2 today, and I still maintain that on my crappy TV, uncharted looks the best. gears also has an annoying habit of being slightly darker just after a quit the pause screen, though that could be the crappy tv
