not particularly and here's why. In bionic Commando it makes a lot of sense for you to be able to split up. Nothing in the game really necessitates two people other than the boss fights so you might as well split up and take out more enemies in a shorter amount of time.
LBP on the other hand is all about communal fun, and for that to happen you all need to be working together constantly and on the same screen. There are very few enemies in LBP so there's also not much incentive to split up into individuals.
