1. Well, DS Phat (first one), is pretty much inferior to DS lite in every way. DSi is comming out in ~ a year from now I guess. It will have more features, and should be an improvement over the previous ones. It has a few cool changes, as a camera (3 megapixel), downloadable games (like XBLA and Virtual Console), and some other small features. It also has double touch-screens. Perhaps a few games will be compatible with DSi only. DSi is a bit more expensive than DS lite, so you need to check it out a bit for yourself. If you're big on downloadable games, buy the DSi, if not, there aren't any huge improvements.

2. The DS has a huge amount of RPGS. Some recomendations would be

The World ends with you. Great JRPG with a unique playstyle, made by the Kingdom Hearts team. Uses the Stylus a lot, in a great way. Has a very Japanese touch.

New Super Mario Bros. - the real sequel to the NES and SNES mario games. Pretty awesome game I've heard.

Fire Emblem DS - remake of the original Fire Emblem. Strategy Role-playing game. Turnbased. It will come out first half of 09 in Americas, and in 2008 in Europe. The game is going to rock. Still, if you're not a fan of very difficult games, it may not be the game for you.

Tetris DS - Tetris with lots of different modes. If you like Tetris, this is the best you'll get.

3. Not really. Has to be The World Ends with you or The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. There aren't a lot of high quality 3D action adventure games on the DS.

4. The best looking DS game is Final Fantasy IV, I believe. Its cutscenes look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=119Ay49BsGg. Here's how it looks in Gameplay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8nJQr29Py4

Some games might look better than it, but not by a lot I believe.

5. The DS lite can play Gameboy Advance games, but not Gameboy or Gameboy Colour. The DSi can only play DS games. So for backwards compability, you would have to go DS lite.

6. I do not know anything about this, sorry.

7. Wifi is built in. Connecting is very easy if you have a router at least.

8. DS lite has huge battery life. On GBA games, it can last 40 hours. On DS games, it lasts 15 hours on the lowest light settings, but if you are inside, that works great. There are 5 modes I believe, and they go gradually down to 5-7 hours for the highest light setting. That setting makes it possible to play no matter how sunny it is outside. The DSi has far shorter battery life, only ~ 10 hours at the lowest light settings.

9. Downsides compared to PsP is that it has worse graphics. It's like a N64. Upsides are the Stylus. I don't really know what to tell you here.

10. Ooh, though question. You live in the U.S, right? Right now it costs 129 dollars for the DS lite, but once the DSi hits Americas, it might sink to 99 dollars. The DSi is at 169-189 dollars I believe.

11. Lots. Still, you cannot ask me, I live in Norway, and games never hit bargain bins here.

12. The DS lite can surf the net, but it's crap, and you have to buy a game to do it. I believe it will be far better on DSi, but not as good as PsP. The DSi has photos and stuff, and a pictochannel to chat with other people. The DS lite has none of those.

13. I don't know really. This isn't my field at all.

And just so you know it, 2 of your "noob questions" were a bit too advanced for me :D
