This has been explained in a variety of manners already in this thread, but I thought I'd state it directly and explicitly. It is entirely fine if you do not personally find the Wii and the style of game it promotes enjoyable. Totally dandy. Do what you want. It is also true, generally speaking, that it's difficult to understand why other people enjoy different things than you do. And I accept this.

What is not cool, however, is to refuse to accept that other people have different tastes than you. To chalk other people's taste up to stupidity or childishness or even magic. Yes, magic: I've heard many people here explain that the "Nintendo" brand -- which managed to sell only 20 million consoles last generation, which the Wii will more than double by Christmas -- is responsible for all of this, as if all of these casual gamers who have never played games before all love Nintendo for no apparent reason. As if the 10 year old girls who comprise the Nintendogs crowd are all die hard Nintendo fanboys of days long past. That reasoning MAY fly for Zelda sales, but it certainly doesn't for Wii Sports or Wii Fit. Why do people buy Nintendo products so much? It can't possibly be because people actually enjoy them a lot, therefore, it must be magic.

It is not magic, it is not stupidity, it is not childishness. You go have fun pretending to be a wizard in Oblivion or a space marine in Halo or a super spy in Metal Gear Solid, and let girls have fun playing dress up with The Sims or playing mommy with Imagine: Babies or Nintendogs. I will tell you what's stupid: the inability to even comprehend that other people don't like the things you enjoy, that they instead enjoy other things.
