help me, I can't still understand the reason why wii is selling so much

I ve always enjoyed and spent a large amount of my time with videogames. Since 1980, videogames have filled every day of my existence. I have owned an Atari 2600, an assortment of PCs starting with a Tandy TRS-80, Nintendo Entertainment System, Gameboy, Super Nes, a 3DO, N64, and Playstation 1. I currently have a PC, Ninteno DS, PSP, Xbox 360, and a Wii. I think I can be considered an hardcore gamer..

I must admit that i ve never understood how a core gamer could not understand the talent at Nintendo. Games like Zelda, Mario, Pikmin, Fire Emblem, Metroid...

But now, it is for me impossible to understand why someone can not see beyond their own tastes in game. I can understand Nintendo not being to some peoples tatses. But a person can understand that a particular game, or games developed by a certain company, may be of high quality, even though those games don't tailor to their taste. Example being, that I have absolutely no interest in Metal Gear Solid Games. They bore me. But I admit they are quaility, and suit may game players. But, I tried and tried againg to understand what's happening in these years but unfortunately I 'm not able to undestand why some have so much trouble understanding why other people can like games that they themselves do not.

Maybe i'm too young (i am 33) but it's hard for me to understand why a gamer that's played games since consoles were created, would have such a bias against graphics ... and i'm disappointed bacause maybe too many of these gamers are losing something important in gaming.

i'm very enthusiastic of my Wii, and gaming in general ... I can play some good games (Fire Emblem, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Galaxy, Boom Blox, Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Twilight Princess) i can watch it on my 52" 1080p Sony Bravia TV, it is spectacular. Ii can use internet in my sitting room, i can listen music and watch all my 5000 photos on a big screen.. Now i'm waiting for Conduit, Madworld, Cursed Mountain, Pikmin 3...and i think the future will be brighter..

but when i see people continuing to question why others like the Wii, and have different tastes in gaming than them, i still continue to not understand...maybe if I were 35 years old and I lived in the my own isolated world, wii would be a less than fantastic console...unfortunately I can see beyond my own likes and dislikes, and understand others have prefernces of their own.

so what's wrong with me?
