Let's take another look at this.

PS3:
1st party - 0.9 x 16.5 million = 14.8 million
3rd party - 4.4 x 16.5 million = 72.6 million
Total - 5.3 x 16.5 million = 87.4 million

X360:
1st party - 1.4 x 22.3 million = 31.2 million
3rd party - 5.2 x 22.3 million = 115.9 million
Total - 6.6 x 22.3 = 147.1 million

Wii:
1st party - 2.4 x 35.5 million = 85.2 million
3rd party - 3.1 x 35.5 million = 110.1 million
Total - 5.5 x 35.5 million = 195.2 million

Publishers don't really care about the attach ratio, they care about the total volume of sales. Wii, having launched a year after X360, is only a few million units behind in 3rd party software. How's that for 3rd party software doesn't sell on Wii?

That is a pretty weird way to look at the numbers?

According to this site, wii has sold roughly 177 million software. By a quick look, about 114 million of them are nintendo games.

That makes it about 63 million third party sales for wii. So third party attach ratio for wii is about 1,8.

For 360 the same method brings up a number of 125 million third party sales for 360. 3rd party attach ratio is about 5,6. I have to agree on one point, developers will look at the raw numbers. They also take a look at what kind of software sells on any specific platform.

Oh and for ps3, there are about 61 million third party sales. 3,7 attach ratio.

The software totals on this website are not complete... All 1st party games will be counted well because they are important, but many smaller 3rd party games will not be.

Nintendos own fiscals give a figure of 229.85 million (shipped) by the end of September, which given the speed of the software sales is a minimum for actual sales by now.

Well as far as I know, this site counts retail -> customer. I prefer that over shipped figures. If those figures are not complete, Wii is not the only platform which has that problem. Still my numbers give you a pretty good picture about third party sales on all platforms.

He's right though the first party numbers are far more complete than the 3rd party ones.  Shipped is the number that is important to the companies making the games.  It's better to have a solid number from a financial statement even if it is shipped over an incomplete and estimated number from our site.
