The game sold 220K in the US. That's the best any of his games have ever sold. So that claim wasn't even true before, and it's not true this time.
Ubisoft didn't give a lot of hype to the game because Suda's games were niche before. Any publisher would have done that. It's a hit, so that makes the next game a hotter property than the last one.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
