Bungie is looking out in it's best interests right now, and pushing away from MS is it.
MS will be content having them pump out Halo every three years, because people will continually buy it, and it will continually sell good, but you don't only want to make one thing over and over again in life.
Bungie just wants to do something else, and not be a Halo Machine like MS wants them to be, which was obvious by the decision to split-up. >_>
