Same reason Amendment 2 passed in Florida. Unfortunately the only person to blame for this is Obama. He brought out a ton and a half of African American voters and we all know most African Americans are overly religious.

It's not religious so much as it is cultural.  For a few reasons.

The least controversal one though is that minorties are often very racist vs other minorities... often much more so then the majority is.

Also, there are other specific reasons black people are espiecially homophobic, that don't really rely on race.
