Quick aside: Aren't we in World war III right now? Hasn't the United States declared war on "Terrorism" wherever it is? which recently has included strikes in Syria and Pakistan?
Anyways, If there's a third World War, it will be over oil. I can think of no resource (although the U.S. is starting to run out of water in some parts, but they'll just force Canada to start selling them ours) or cause that could lead to another world consuming war.
