If you look in the google earth folder in the program files, there should be an .exe to run in directx mode. Also, just a word of warning: Apparently it caches all the textures and 3D buildings that you have viewed in the session in your RAM, which can add up REALLY fast. I got it up to 1.35 GB (out of 2 GB total) on my laptop and it's running Vista (read "650MB of RAM") - pop-in FTW!!! Still, it does do a clean RAM-dump when you shut it down, which is more than can be said for a certain other program I love.... /cough firefox /cough
