Im sorry but I have never seen any evidence that within a society your religion is a factor on growth of a population.

I don't have the info to show, could find some, but can't right now. Keyword here is "fundamental". Of course you can believe in any flying spaghetti monster and live like any average joe. But if you a fundamental (go to church, listen to your religious leaders etc.) you do live by your religion and most of them don't want people to use birth control. @libellule: I don't watch Fox news. As i said, it depends on how fundamental they are. If you take guidance to your life from your religious leader, for example Lord Sidious (current pope, if someone asks), you pretty much do have more kids, than the average non-religious guy. The diffence is easy to see in non-religious western countries with high welfare. Basically the population grows only in 2 type of countries, are either low welfare countries or have high level of fundamental religious people. And in Russia (low welfare, non-religious) population is decreasing. I didn't see you point in increasing number of catholics, is it any better? Religion is religion, no matter what you call it. Still, you need to know what religion means in Europe, it's not fundamental as i defined it. It's more like you'd state being a die hard Wii fanboy, and still buy only PS3. How the kids will take their religion and culture, depends on what kind of environment they grow, with increasing number of religious people, they will more and more be in touch with their religion, which means that religion becomes more important to them. And when it come important enough, they start to live by their relion. Meaning that if the religious population grows slowly enough (compared to others), religion doesn't take a stand among people, but if it reaches the critical mass, it will turn people to religion.
