xman and Hyruken:
Sony built up great relationships with third parties over the last two generations, but when Sony no longer had their overwhelming market share, all of those exclusives went multi-platform or were lost outright.
As it stands, MS isn't anywhere near that level of market share, and this is why so many third-party titles are simply going multi-platform.
Third-party titles are going to keep going multi-platform due to rising development costs and because of the fact that neither Sony or MS have the necessary market share to warrant exclusivity. The only titles that are guaranteed to remain exclusive are first and second party, and that's where MS is easily the weakest.
Furthermore, since MS is so willing to fork over the cash, devs are just going to keep asking for more of it, and might even ask for money on titles that they were going to make multi-platform anyway, and this would make it really hard for MS to turn a profit.
