Sounds great to me!
My favourite game recently is New Super Mario Bros - its the ultimate casual game, yet its also my favourite - and I'm definitely a "core" gamer. (I'll buy, complete and enjoy Metroid for instance.)
Even my partner enjoys it (NSMB).

If Ninty keep making games like this, I can't see them going wrong. Its only sold 10.5m units - in about 1yr on the market.
EDIT - I thought the thread title was something about throwing out carts, digital distribution is coming ;)
