If you think that Colbert was somehow making fun of the democrats by overreaching on the republican talking points, then I think that you are wrong. You may be reading into something that is not there.
Explain to me how that is the case.
Colbert method has not changed either.
As for the Stewart and The Daily Show, it has always leaned fairly heavily to the left (as long as I have watched it anyway, 5-6 years). It also tends to attack those in power more often. That hasn't really changed much either.
