Most of the global markets have dropped substantially in the last few weeks.

This is happening just as we are to enter into the peak gaming season -- the Christmas/Holiday season.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 both have a lot of big titles -- many of which are similar in style and nature.

The Wii has a lot of interesting third-party titles as well (with many already out).

So what will happen? Will the market drop slow down sales? Will holiday sales be strong but follow-up not measure up to the past ("short legs")? Will games coming out early next year fare poorly?

My thoughts are that sales will increase, but only because the number of consoles has increased. They will be less on a per system basis.

What are your thoughts?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
