You can profess to love something as much you want, you can call yourself a core gamer and buy the hardest of the hardcore games and play it on hard, but if you only boot it up up 3 times, and never bother finishing it - you didn't really love it.
Nintendo Channel offers us the most reliable review method ever created. Average amount of time played, and number of times played. It's second only to playing the game yourself.
Has anyone collected data from Nintendo channel and made a list?
I found a few revealing things - such as Okami (a game journalist's wet dream) being played about 14 hours average - meaning that most people didn't bother finishing it, and played it far less than Wii Fit (a game journalist's nightmare). Another good find was the craptastic Carnival Games had a very low played time, I think 5 hours, while Boom Blox (which sold much less) had a much higher played time. That's a case for marketing experts.
Also, I recall Mario Kart Wii dominating in hours played (I know I've sunk 100+ into it) while metacritic gave it a comparitively low 83.
This means that game review scores may not reflect actual consumer enjoyment, in fact - they could be very far off. Another use of this list could be finding a site (or specific critic) whose reviews reflect actual consumer enjoyment.
So yeah, my real question is: has anyone made an easily searchable and updated list of played times?
