Because the PSP's stations are selected among all the available internet radios throughout the world as opposed to your local broadcast licences which can be applied for by a select number of corporations who are able to meet the FCC's requirements. I've been a subscriber to XM satellite radio for 2 years now because I was so displeased with radio (though up in Quebec, stations have to play 2 awful French songs for every 1 English song or they face government sanctions).
I love setting my PSP to Radio Classique Swisse when I'm getting ready for bed. I haven't experimented with many other genres or stations though. I'm dissapointed niether of the PSP players offer BBC world service (news).
