I totally agree about the final boss. I had the EXACT same thoughts as you. The setting was epic, no music (if I recall correctly), just plain tentacle dodging! At one point, I got hit by one and I thought I was dead for sure and that she would eat me because there was just an animation going on, but then I figured out that I had to aim and shoot like with the other big tentacles on the Ishimura (which were way easier than I expected).
When the climax gets as epic as that, you got to expect something big, but that was a whole other league compared to the likes of Resident Evil 4 or Silent Hill! It just blew my mind when I saw how big that shit was compared to Isaac! xD
