Socialism makes most people dependent on government for many/most aspects of their lives.  There is nothing wrong with that if that's what you think is best, but for those of us who realize what this means for liberty (economically and socially) it's very alarming indeed.  Of course you are free to think what you want, but don't get upset that I criticize you for it.

In any case, socialism involves penalizing those who work hard to prop up those who don't.  I don't like that (being one who works hard), and I think most Americans don't like that either.
