This is what he said about the quoted part: "But they were talking about the fact that your experience as governor is not getting out."
So, from what I can tell, Griffin (the CNN guy) didn't mean to take it out of context. He just asked the question like an idiot. (Which, now that I come to think of it, is consistent with your post.)
