Why you assume reward means salvation? There are other blessings. Read this.
John 14:6 (NIV):
Jesus answered "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
And the context of Matthew 6:5 is for Christians to pray to God in private to speak to God and not to appear religious. It's about the intent of what you do. A righteous intent is what the Bible says God rewards.
