well, to me, it shows that the wii channel design is both limited and flexible. limited in the sense that every new thing you download has to be self-contained and presented as a channel, flexible in the sense that anything can be done on your wii as long as you present it as a channel.
it's a convenient design, but not particularly clever. i'm guessing that all future wiiware downloads will be presented in separate channels, resulting in dozens and dozens of channels.
i guess in a future firmware update they can update the interface so that things can look a little more organized, so it's not really a major thing. but for the time being, it's not very clean--it just gets the job done adequately.
EDIT: as to implication to metroid the game itself... i won't read much into it, and i think you are being optimistic. certainly a possibility, but i'd be surprised if the things you mentioned becomes reality.
the Wii is an epidemic.
