PSU? How much power would you need for a HD 4850? Is 500 watts good enough?

500 watts would be fine as long as the PSU is good quality and the 12volt rails provide enough power.  You'll also want to make sure it has at least one (preferably 2) 6 pin PCI-E power connectors.
